Application:
The ZAA 2600.HA is an automatic film applicator for the precise, operator-independent and reproducible application of paints, varnishes, coatings, adhesives and similar products. This version is specifically designed for use with heated vacuum plates or heating plates at temperatures of up to 150 °C. Application parameters can be conveniently configured using the capacitive 5.7-inch touchscreen and stored as profiles.

Reproducible film application at a controlled temperature

The ZAA 2600.HA combines automated film application with heated base plates. This allows temperature-dependent materials and processes to be applied under defined conditions. The constant drawdown speed, adjustable application distance and controlled temperature provide a reliable basis for comparative tests, product development and quality control.

Suitable applicators for the ZAA 2600.HA

The automatic film applicator provides the controlled movement. The selected applicator determines factors such as film width, application geometry and the expected wet-film thickness.

The ZAA 2600.HA can be used with the following applicators, among others:

  • 43020100–43020105 / ZUA 2000: universal applicators with adjustable gap height and film widths from 60 to 220 mm
  • 43020300, 43020301, 43020303 and 43020304 / ZAF 2010: four-sided film applicators with four defined gap heights

Optional applicator catch mechanism

An adjustable run-off wedge is available for profile rods and wire-wound film applicator rods. It catches the applicator after the drawdown and prevents it from remaining on the freshly coated surface.

The ZAA 2600.HA is specifically designed for temperature-controlled applications. Depending on the substrate and application, a heated vacuum plate or heating plate can be used.

Flat fixation of flexible substrates

The heated vacuum plate holds thin or flexible substrates flat against the working surface throughout the drawdown process. This reduces waves, wrinkles and specimen movement.

No heating required?

For applications at room temperature, the 43010100 / ZAA 2600.A is available. It offers the same touchscreen operation and storable application profiles but is not equipped as standard with the special insulation required for heated plates.

Operation

  1. Select a suitable applicator for the required film width and film drawdown.
  2. Select a heated vacuum plate or heating plate to suit the substrate.
  3. Position the substrate and secure it when using a vacuum plate.
  4. Insert the profile rod or wire-wound film applicator rod into the guide and apply the weight.
  5. Position other applicators at the designated weight support.
  6. Set the target temperature on the controller.
  7. Wait until the required temperature has stabilized.
  8. Set the application length and drawdown speed using the touchscreen or select a stored profile.
  9. Apply the coating material in front of the applicator in the drawdown direction.
  10. Start the application process.
  11. After completion, remove the applicator and substrate and clean the accessories.
