The ZAA 2600.A is an automatic laboratory instrument for the precise, operator-independent and reproducible application of paints, varnishes, coatings, adhesives and similar products. Application parameters can be conveniently configured using the capacitive 5.7-inch touchscreen and stored as profiles. The instrument is suitable for laboratories, quality assurance and research and development.

Manual film drawdowns can produce deviations due to varying drawdown speeds and inconsistent contact pressure. In contrast, the ZAA 2600.A moves the selected applicator over the specimen in a controlled manner, providing a reliable basis for comparative tests, product development and quality control.

Suitable applicators for the ZAA 2600.A
The automatic film applicator provides the controlled movement. The selected applicator determines factors such as film width, application geometry and the expected wet-film thickness.
The ZAA 2600.A can be used with the following applicators, among others:
- 43020100–43020105 / ZUA 2000: universal applicators with adjustable gap height and film widths from 60 to 220 mm
- 43020300, 43020301, 43020303 and 43020304 / ZAF 2010: four-sided film applicators with four defined gap heights

- ACC586: wire-wound film applicator rods for uniform films with different wet-film thicknesses
Optional applicator catch mechanism
An adjustable run-off wedge is available for profile rods and wire-wound film applicator rods. It catches the applicator after the drawdown and prevents it from remaining on the freshly coated surface.

Touchscreen and application profiles
The required parameters are configured directly on the instrument using the clearly structured menu. Recurring applications can be stored as profiles and recalled when required.

Crockmeter extension

The instrument platform can be expanded for scrub and wet-abrasion testing using the 43010928 / ACC1286 conversion kit. The dedicated 43010103 / ZAA 2600.SW version is also available.
Operation
- Select a suitable applicator for the required film width and film drawdown.
- Select the appropriate working surface: glass, rubber-coated fabric or vacuum plate.
- Secure the substrate using the clamping device or vacuum.
- Insert the profile rod or wire-wound film applicator rod into the guide and apply the weight.
- Position other applicators at the designated weight support.
- Set the required application length and drawdown speed using the touchscreen.
- Store the settings as an application profile if required.
- Apply the coating material in front of the applicator in the drawdown direction.
- Start the application process.
- After completion, remove and clean the applicator and substrate.
